Get to Know Me

Hello! My name is Jonathan “Griffin” Long, and I started Nomadic Consulting with a simple goal: to help people and organizations use technology in ways that make their lives easier and their work more impactful. I’ve always been drawn to solving problems and finding practical solutions, whether that means helping a family get more out of their smart devices or supporting a nonprofit in moving its services online.
Much of my professional journey has been rooted in the nonprofit sector, where I’ve dedicated years to helping organizations grow and serve their communities. I hold a Master’s degree in Nonprofit and Civic Leadership, and I’ve worked hands-on with organizations to navigate challenges, build stronger systems, and expand their reach. At the same time, I’ve been a lifelong technologist, with experience in IT support, system administration, and digital literacy training. That combination—nonprofit leadership and technical expertise—led me to create Nomadic Consulting LLC, where I bring both worlds together.
A major influence on my path has been my love of traveling. Living abroad, often with limited resources, taught me the value of adaptability and reinforced my belief that technology—used wisely—can be a powerful tool for connection and opportunity. Those lessons continue to shape the way I approach my work today.
The name Nomadic Consulting reflects both my lifestyle and my philosophy. I travel across the country, working from different communities while supporting clients wherever they are. This mobility allows me to bring a wide perspective, stay adaptable, and meet people where they are—literally and figuratively. At the heart of it all is a simple motivation: I believe technology should serve people, not the other way around.
